David is correct. That is the engine oil fill.
Hercules is actually a Benye. Do you have an owners manual?

the sittch onlo has three positions, with the key straight up and downthe power is off if i turn it to the left the starter will turn when i let go the switch turns back to the middle it is spring loaded. if i turn to the right the sstarter turns and the light on the dash is lite.I was told the glow plug is on in this position and after starting i should turn the key back to the middle position. the plate behind the switch is worn out i dont know whqat it said. do i leave it in the right position am i burning the glow plugs for no reason
I’m thinking you might actually have a four position switch but might be unaware of it. I haven’t encountered a three position key switch in this application. When you turn the key to the right are there actually two more positions? The red light on the dash indicates there is power to the alternator fields. It is unrelated to the glow plugs. It is also possible that you have a defective switch, this happens occasionally.

Tyler, I had no idea you were the owner of that video, and that you are reluctant to openly share it. Good for you that you want to keep it proprietary to further your agenda.
I also would like to mention, we try to keep the terminology consistent with the terms used by the manufacturer to reduce errors cause by language barriers, this is why it is labeled as an ignition switch and you will notice the rest of the industry follows suite.
Yes. As is the case, it sometimes takes awhile for the “industry” to catch up with reality due to a conservative mindset and unwillingness to change, and in the case of Chinese products, most often meanings and nomenclature are lost in the translation. A case in point is Kenworth trucks coming around to calling them “Ignition Key Switch”. You must admit that the term Key Switch is a generic term and eliminates confusion where people are involved that acknowledge the difference. But I digress.

Willba, it would help to see a picture of your switch to see how many positions it has.
Have you had the tractor for very long?
It sounds to me like you are turning the key switch off after you start the engine, and in doing so opens the alternator field circuit so it would stop charging.
The next time you start the engine just let go of the key, don’t turn it, and see what it does.

He could be turning it back to the “H” position, in which case the glow plugs would come on and make the ammeter show a discharge since the alternator is only rated for 14 amps. Hope that’s not the case.
But he did not give the make, model, and year of the tractor so it’s all just a wild guess. I’m really bad at mind reading too.

And here is a short video of someone replacing a key switch on a Jinma tractor that thinks they have an ignition system – which they don’t. Be sure to check all your fuses first because the key switch may not be the problem.

Does your switch look like this?

Yes that’s a by-pass line from the pressure regulating check valve in the banjo fitting. Kind of unnecessary actually. I re-plumbed mine into the fuel return because it was aerating the fuel. Ok, sounds like it’s plumbed correctly.

Yep, good job. I’m still puzzling over that fuel filter arrangement though. It looks like you have several outlets on the fuel tank, and the fuel return line from the injection pump is hard piped. Very unusual, but I presume everything is plumbed correctly.
