They are available from the factory as an attachment. I have that option on mine. Videos on YouTube. You can probably retrofit one if you have the correct type of towers  (transom).

That’s why I re-engineered the linkage, to assure the brake band wasn’t pre-loaded and dragging. The added advantage of the cable and sheave configuration is the 2:1 ratio of clutch/brake sequence, and best of all is the little pedal effort required. Glad you got it sorted out though.

Yeah, dribbling or stuck injectors can’t be cleaned from the outside. Could be crud in the pintle/seat, or a weak spring. I would pop test them first to determine the bad one and then just replace it. They aren’t expensive (yet).

            I had a M-37A. It was a hoot.

Well, first off 0.2 megapascals (mpa)  equals about 29 psig. A tad low for that r/m, but acceptable. And 0.5 mpa equals about 72 psig (a bit high). This suggests that you aren’t using a multi-grade oil. There is no correlation between a blown head gasket and oil consumption.

              Is the coolant level low?

What type of engine oil are you using?

Is there oil in the coolant?

Is there coolant in the oil?

              Is the hydraulic reservoir low?

The picture showing the bluish white smoke indicates unburned fuel, probably from a dribbling/stuck injector that is washing the oil from cylinder walls and burning it. But going through that much oil in 8 hours suggests badly worn valve guides, broken/stuck piston rings, or worse yet – cracked pistons. Which would also account for the extreme blow-by. You can perform a cylinder leak-down or compression check to isolate the problem.

The steering brake/clutch application sequence has been an ongoing issue, and for some reason Yuchai (the manufacturer) refuses to address it. The current stock linkage configuration will work satisfactory only if there is a significant amount of pre-tensioning of the brake band, which causes the band to constantly drag against the brake drum, and as you correctly surmised, lead to premature failure of the brake band lining.

The Judge is the way to go imho, and is on my wish list. You can alt load a slug, ØØ Buck, and a .45 Colt in a 2-1/2″ six round chamber. I like the mix-n’-match idea.

You had the feeling you were being watched because you probably were. Something was salivating over you and pondering “ketchup or mustard”?
