It was probably put there by a pissed off Chinese worker. I'm sure there are a lot of them in China.
That's a nice looking road now and I enjoyed your photo's. Did you get the clutch and brake problem fixed?
How is the road doing with the rain? Did you angle the road bed in towards the cut in the hill side? Are you going to gravel the road or at least the ditch to control runoff water?
It sounds like the contacts are dirty in the solenoid. Sometimes you can take the solenoid apart and clean the contacts. The nuts on the studs may also be loose.
rd, in post 57 you said you found a bread tie in one of the crank oil holes. Was that the journal that spun the bearing? If there were bread ties in the crank that would/could be a cause of bearing failure.
Those bearings look a little rough to me. How does the crank journals look?
Does your exhaust pipe stick up in the air? If so it could have water in one or more cylinders causing hydra lock.
Yes, you can use an ohm meter tot test them. Post what brand, model and year you have and someone can tell you what the resistance should be.
White smoke could also indicate water in the combustion chamber. I think you should reset the valves before you run the engine. Just tightening each adjuster may have been a mistake.
After you set the overhead start the engine and let it idle a few minutes. Then loosen one injector line at a time until you find the one that is causing the miss/knock. Replace that injector first to see if it cures the problem. If it is still missing on that cylinder you may have a serious issue or just a bad injector pump on that cylinder.
It's really unfortunate we lost all the updates we did in the past. In the early years of these tractors we did a lot of experimenting and upgrading. I think that it would be wise for anyone with problems to contact Ron at Ranch Hand Supply because he has documented a lot of the issues and is willing to help.
There was a thread that described the way to put a fine mesh pickup screen purchased from Northern Tool and other places to replace the crappy screen supplied by the Chinese.
I just went through a hyd. pump failure and he had a lot of info that helped me through the problem. From your last post I assume you got all the trash out of the reservoir and that's good. Time will tell if your pump has been damaged.
Happy fathers day to you too.
Did you check the pickup filter screen? you said you found metal shavings in the suction side line of the hydl pump and you found sand, dirt and metal in the reservoir. If the pickup filter screen is working there should be nothing but oil going through the pump. Any metal shavings that came from a pump failure or anywhere after the pump would end up in the reservoir and should NOT be able to get through the pickup screen IF it is doing it's job.
Circulating the oil did not clean the reservoir out if the pickup screen is working. If it is bad all you did was to circulate the dirty oil through the system. You probably need to pull the cover off the reservoir and clean it out by hand.
