not sure how to check and drain oil from injector pump – please advise
fuel seeping out of top of injector pump when cranked but none at the injector so it doesn’t start. It seems like the pump needs replacing. I don’t mind replacing it if it needs doing but don’t want to bring in diesel mechanic if it’s not going to solve the problem.
I was able to disconnect the fuel line at the injector – no fuel. I have fuel in the fuel pump -it leaks when cranked but none at the injector so I guess the fuel pump isn’t working and needs to be replaced. Any ideas?
does diesel fuel leaking from the top of the diesel fuel pump with tight connections mean it needs to be replaced — 2004 yangdong y385t diesel engine in jinma 284
Thanks- I narrowed it down to the fuel pipe connection on the injection pump assembly to the injection assy. I don’t know if there is an o ring or some kind of gasket that is failing. I couldn’t get the screw on connector to budge. I guess I’ll try some penetrating oil since I don’t dare use heat with the diesel fuel the next time I get back to it.
my 2004 jinma 284 with a y385t diesel is cranking very sluggishly and slow. I’ve cleaned the battery terminals, charged the battery which didn’t help. Any suggestions.
Thanks for the info. It’s about a 2004 Jinma 284 with a yangdong y385t diesel engine. The main filter looks like the oil filter you talked about. It has a small bolt on top that doesn’t seem to access anything. I couldn’t unscrew the main filter body by hand so I probably will need some kind of filter wrench to give me some tourque. If I can get to the inside filter I’ll let youknow what it says on it and try and get a replacement.
Thanks again
EdThanks Len. I'll see if I can track it down.

Thanks again Ron. I was wondering where you got the picture of the spool. I had the first picture you sent from the paperwork I got with the tractor but that blowup of the spool was very interesting and wondered the source. Thanks again. Ed Shea
It leaks only when controls operated. Ron thank you very much for all your help. That picture really helps. The o-ring makes a lot of sense.
