I have a 2008 NT254 with the NT700 loader as well. If yours is like mine then it has a set of Cross SS series FEL control valves with a non-adjustable relief valve that was supposed to be designed for 2600PSI. I did not have any problems with mine opening at such a low perssure, but I replaced it after a year or 2 for other reasons.
Merry Christmas to all, and thanks for keeping Christ in Christmas!
Would hate to loose you TB! Hang in there!!
Please excuse the quality, my wife took my camera, had to use a cell phone. Bottom pictue is the quick hitch and 3PH with hydraulic top and side links. I guess it's hard to see the PTO shaft guard and the towbar hitch, but they're down there somewhere! The top picture is the right side sway chain. It runs from a bracket underneath the rigth axle, that is used to mount the ROPS and fender, to halfway back the lift arm. It is ALMOST inline with the lift arm anchor points but it is actually a bit higher. I was considering modifying those mounting points to be perfectly in line, till I thought of a single rigid sway bar instead of 2 sway chains.
Bob, thanks. I have seen posts describing X'd sway chains, but if I understand correctly that is not what I have. I considered such a setup because, as you implied, if the anchor points of the sway chains were the same points as the anchor points of the lift arms I wouldn't have the issues with the misalignment that I have. To do X'd chains though I would have to remove a big bracket that holds a tow bar and 2 heavy hooks. I would also have to remove a guard that protects the operator from flying driveline parts. My NT254 came from Northern tool with sway chains outside of the lift arms. Give me a few minutes, I'm gonna' try to get pictures…………
I have a 254 with FEL. The FEL has channel steel running up both sides of the tractor about hood height, and then across the front just in front of the hood. I mounted mine on top of the front left corner of this FEL framing. The framing across the front can be easily removed by pulling 2 hitch pins, so I also stuck a 20' chain in a piece of 3″ PVC pipe and mounted it behind the front framing piece.
I have a quick hitch from Tractor Supply and I love it. I use it with my sub soiler, middle buster, landscape rake, box blade, broadcast spreader, rock sifter, generator, and tiller. I also used it one season for my snow blower, but that implement requires the most power of all my PTO driven implements and I was a bit shy about the fact that the quick hitch adds about 3 or 4 inches to the distance between the tractor and the implement which extends the PTO shafts a bit, so I don't use it for that. I was thinking about getting a 3″ PTO shaft extension to make up the difference.
Yes, it seems UHaul favors long wheelbases as well. Easier to control when something tries to pull your rear end to one side or another. I will be shopping around later this summer for a good used F250 super duty.
I had just fimished equipping the Ranger with a brake controller and 7-conductor trailer(RV?) connector in hopes of towing with it but I can take the controller with me when I buy a bigger truck. So, and I'm sure everyone has an opinion on this, what are your smallest recommended pickup trucks for SAFELY hauling a Jinma 254 (or 3100 lb car) on a 2000 lb trailer?
I need a bigger truck anyway. I'm going to purchase a car lift for the garage in the next week or so that weighs 1500lbs. I'm going to try to bring it home in the Ranger. Ranger GVW = 3376 and GVWR = about 4600. I seem to recall asking the local stone quarry to put a half ton of sand in the Ranger a few years ago, but when they weighed me out it was something like 0.9 tons, and it was tolerable.
