Paul,
If I read your post correctly, the plate attached to the front axle broke at the lower 2 bolt holes and you are having trouble removing it from the steering cylinder. The ball does not come out of the cylinder end, its just a bolt secured with a castle nut. I used a large C clamp on the castle nut to apply just enough pressure to remove the stud from the cylinder. If I remember correctly its not a tapered shaft so it shouldn’t be to difficult to remove.
I broke the stud from the plate the first time, and the second time I broke the plate at the lower 2 holes. I used a thicker plate (I think 1/2″) and welded the stud back on. My trouble is driving over stump holes, or small logs that cause the wheels to turn further than they normally would creating stress on that plate.

I think the part number is <span style=”font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: medium; line-height: normal;”>81871583. Several places have Tham for about 15 bucks. One example. http://www.equipmentbarn.net/Ford-New-Holland-Replacement-Ignition-Switch-OEM-Number-81871583-E7NN11N501AB-E7NN11N501AC.html</span>

Well now, I guess I’ll take the alternator to the parts place, not sure if they can test it. They only know what the computer tells them, and not hopefully they will find a pigtail to test it… Thanks for all the responses.. Aubrey

A quick search on the web found a 1999 Farm Pro 2420, 2wd 20 hp with Koyker 140 FEL 180 hrs selling for $6146 in South Dakota.
If you can look it over before, check the fluids like David suggested
