I also have the 454, if you need any info let me know. Did you get the 4 cylinder or the 3? If I were you, I would check and change all the fluids. I don't know why you couldn't run the out of the pump thru the relief valve and back to the inlet. I know that they say not, but it seems to me that it would work as it would only go into effect on a deadhead. You might be able to feed the outlet back in the top of the sump, as it has a fill plug with NPT thread. (The one with the red paint on top, right behind the seat.) You'll find that you will blow oil out of it when working on a hot day, especially if you have a loader on it.
