Boo on the FEL compatibility.
I see that the new 254's have not only the new perkins but a skidsteer style bucket disconnect that comes standard now. Is it compatable with my older 2013 Jinma 254 FEL?
well…..I'm sure you've done it by now ha ha ha. It went well for me. I am at 106 hours now and no problems. I just followed the book and did a little online research for the valve adjust. Its real veg on what mark to use on the balancer. So I turned it over by hand and felt rocker arms to find compression stroke and the exhaust stroke. As for the head bolts….most everyone said to loosen and re-torque. I dont remember what it is off hand, but If I remember right the specs are in the books. The only thing that I've come across that was changed my air filter(OEM), it want seating well enough at the gasket and it was sucking a little dirt. I checked it when I bought it from Keno and just checked the wing nut and it was tight. Found this at the 100 hr oil change and maintenance. Hope it didnt effect the life of my engine too much. I cleaned the intake tube out and put a new filter in.
Had to try!
Ok….. so its been a while since I did this and had all this happen but I will finish what I started here. Even if it is a day late and a dollar short! So….I tried it out again with the spring stretched it out and I think it was a bit better but it still decided to pop out of gear on me Just ounce this time, but it still did it. So I took the cover back off. Then I punched the pins out that hold your shift fork to the shift rod. Pulled spring and detente ball again as well. Long story short I pulled the shift rods out and took a burr bit to the detentes and made them a little more prominent. wish I would have kept my pictures so I could have posted with pics but it was on my old phone and my old phone is a no longer. I still need to figure out how to post them on this forum too. I put it back together and I haven't done any long passes with the box blade yet to see if its truly fixed but I have done some pushing a bit and it hasn't popped out of gear yet. I think its good now.
Tone,
I guess I didn't did I ha ha.
Just last weekend I was doing a job with my little 254 tractor for a friend, filling in a hole that was suppose to be a swimming pool that never go finished. He had the dirt in one big pile not far from the hole. So I had it in 4WD and in low when I was going into the dirt pile so it wouldn't lug and slip the clutch. It would spin the tires a bit to get a full bucket but pretty soft material even on the ground. Anyways, It made a big clunk when I was getting a load! So I backed away from the dirt pile and started to investagate. Started moving forward and you could see the left front tire would bind up every so often. Also you could here it in the front end. So I took it home and tore down the left side on the front axle. Found that it broke the teeth off my Driving gear on the end of my axle shaft.(outer gear) Parts on order and not too bad of a fix but still a set back. Dont mean to high jack, but has anyone else expirenced breaking these gears?
What tractors did that 2 cyl 295T come in if you dont mind me asking? Rino perhaps?
wayne…….I agree with tinbender. I would suggest to take the head off and visually inspect the gasket and head. If its burning coolant bad enough which it sounds like it is, you should be able to tell what cylinder or cylinders its burning out of. The top of the piston will be cleaner or whitish in color on top of the piston. If you don't see anything out of the oridanary, then I would take it in and have the head fluxed or depending on how many hrs are on it and looks bad maybe buy a whole new head if they still make them that is.
