I must have a hybrid. Compression release on engine, no connecting hardware on tractor. I'd consider rigging something up except I've never needed it.
Looking good Rich!
Interesting. I'll be changing mine out this winter and the local O'Reilly's has it in stock, and I have an account there.
One thing worries me. You said “I would fill up the radiator and start the engine up again (no starting problem). Within 30 min., same thing.” Please tell me the engine is cold when you re-fill it. Never, ever put cold water in a stopped hot engine!
If it's like mine the thermostat housing is where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine, and you can check the thermostat with a pot of boiling water. Most likely the radiator fins are plugged with chaff. You want to be very careful if using compressed air to clean them, you can lay the fins over real easy if you're not careful. Even if your electrical system is not working right you should get a manual gauge and sending unit from a parts store or anywhere that sells gauges, a cheap one will do the job. You don't have to go overboard, but you should have something.
What David said. Also take some cardboard and draw out the dimensions of the head and as you remove bolts push them through the cardboard where they belong on the head (or tape them on if they're nuts). One piece for each layer you pull apart. When you put it back together not only do you know what goes where, but the rockers and push rods are still matched up and any like bolts of different lengths go back in the correct holes.
Agreed. It's much faster now!
Hello Hal. It was the logo and a few other parts that looked like a beta version that had me wondering, did I log on in the middle of an update? That was what I was wondering about.
Strikingly unconventional and far-fetched in style or appearance; odd.
Exactly. I was commenting on the appearance of this site, it's much different.
What gets me is I've shown this to seven or eight customers today and every single one has a “city hall” nightmare story to tell, some going back twenty years or more.
This year they bought new business licensing software. Any business that was one day late renewing (like me with my medical condition at the time) had a letter sent to their landlord stating the city was putting a lien on their property for the enormous sum owed to them of $55.00!
It seems about half the businesses in town received the same threatening letter, destroying any good will there was, if any.
When I started back up after four months I asked the clerk if I could get any break on my water bill since the meter had not moved while I was closed, not really expecting much but why not try? I was told no, if I had come in back when I was laying in the hospital 200 miles away for all intents dead they could have suspended it, and they offered to suspend it now (after I explained I was opening back up), I just shook my head and paid the $200.00 for four months of not using any water or sewer.
On a happier note I'm celebrating all week. For our freedom on the Fourth, and for making it around the sun one more time this weekend. Considering the expectations/outcome I was presented with I think I would shock some people at OHSU if I walked in today in the shape I'm in.
