Sounds like I have the same one you do, no wonder I can’t find the non-existent spring. I’ll try your fix, thanks.
While we’re on the subject, my hand throttle on a 2007 Jinma 284 quit holding its setting quite some time ago. Keno said it was a broken spring, but nothing about where this spring might be (can’t find any empty spring holes in the linkage or anything broken). Real head scratcher. In the meantime I lay a loader valve hose over it to hold it in place until it warms up. Between taking care of 11 chickens, a rabbit, 3 cats, a dog, my wife with her MS, taking the daughter to school, shopping, cooking, cleaning, gardening, running a business, and my heart failure I can’t seem to find the time to diagnose this problem
January 4, 2018 at 6:06 pm in reply to: spark plug boot for older style spark plug like a champion rd-16 #4741625 large? That’s insane. Well, to me anyway. I was thinking about why trucks are so expensive nowadays, I picked up a 3″x 8″ “4×4” sticker for a customer the other day at the Chevy dealership. His cost? $59.00 for something 1/2 the size of a bumper sticker. That’s more than 1/6th what I paid for my 71 Chevy 3/4 ton Pickup!
If the shift lever is engaging but the front end is not engaged remove the driveline from the front end. There are four balls that fall out of position that will keep the front axle from hooking up, that’s the weakest link. I can’t tell you more as I’ve never had any problems to date, knock on wood. But many others have had this issue, perhaps one will chime in with more information.
Good luck wearing that thing out. I’m thinking YOUR seat will wear out first!
I need to do the same. It would also help if I got rid of all the crap in the tractor shed. It’s big enough for three tractors, but doesn’t have room for one!
Here’s a picture of the ZL20 valve. The Green arrow is the bypass valve. If you were to take that apart to clean you would want to mark it and preferably put a gauge inline and write down the pressure reading as well as how many turns it took to take apart.
The Yellow arrows are where the springs live that loosen up causing the up/down or lift/curl valves to not return to center. These screws Must be tight.

You must be logged in to view attached files. No, I didn’t touch the bypass valve, that’s up on top by itself. These screws hold the return springs for the up/down and dump/curl shafts to return to center. They are either screwed down tight and things are working correctly, or they have loosened, and the two shafts your joystick controls cannot return to center. I’ll try to remember to take a picture in the AM.
I like that example. Makes me wish I had taken that “Learn to write in Russian” course. :mail:
Strange, must have changed for newer members. I still use the same 6 digit easy as pie password I’ve always used  I have other sites that are impossible, just as you describe. But this ain’t one of them.
