this is a guess but I suspect something deadheaded and blew the seal and loaded the engine with hydro oil..there has been problems with the quick connectors not flowing as they should, it has been suggested that they get replaced first when hydro problems start happening. you need to double check the valve you put in and make sure that all the connection ports match as to what they do to the old valve.
What seal should I be checking?
David, there was gunk in all the in-line hose filters, but I think the main culprit was big rust particles inside the throat of the sediment bulb before the screen which is why I decided to drain and flush the tank as best I could. The hand pump wasn’t working either and I figured I had nothing to lose by taking it apart and cleaning the inner guts of it since I had already found a replacement injector pump from a company in China and was ready to order it. I found it ironic the the cost of the pump was 124.00 US and the freight to ship it to the US was 126.00 and they would only ship DHL
Thanks guys for all the advice! I finally got it running. As I suspected, it wasn’t getting any fuel and the priming pump wasn’t getting any fuel into the the injectors. I took it completely apart(priming pump) removed all the fuel lines, cleaned every filter screen in the fuel lines, drained the fuel tank and blew it out as best I could, then put it all back together. I was actually corresponding with a Chinese company that was going to sell me a new fuel injector pump! It was actually going to cost me more to ship it than the pump itself!! lol After, I got the priming pump put back together, I could hear it pushing the fuel into the injectors. The diesel mechanic told me to use CDC parts cleaner to shoot into the manifold to get it to start because it was safer to use than ether. I did this, and it fired right up. Ran a little rough at first, but after 20 seconds or so, sounded normal to me again. It has been running fine since. Again, many thanks for all the advice!
I have checked and cleaned all the filter screens. Is there 1 in the hose that attaches to that hex nut on the fuel tank? I even found a mobile diesel mechanic to look at it. He was able to get it started but it only ran for 15 min and died again. I don’t believe the hand pump works. Is there a way to order that part or am I looking at having to buy a whole new injector pump assembly? I’ve had this tractor since 2006 and have never had any issues until now.
I wish that were the case. My control valve was made by NIMCO Controls. They have a website and I have tried to contact them but have not had any luck. I would really to get the pieces I need to fix it!
Thanks Tommy! I have done a lot of business with Affordable and you guys have taken good care of me and answered my questions over the years. I purchased my Foton 404 from Rural King in 2006. They had a great mechanic that did a lot of warranty work for me. Do all the work myself now since NO one wants to touch my Chinese tractor. lol I will say a comparable Kubota model at the time would have cost 11,000.00 more than I paid for my Foton and did NOT come with a loader like my Foton did. It has been a real good tractor for me.I want to thank everyone who replied to my post. I was able to get it going after getting the airlock out at the fuel filter. I have always used a fuel additive to help keep the fuel fresh and also use injector cleaner at regular intervals. I wish I knew more about diesels but it sure helps to come to the forums and get needed information to keep my tractor running!
Hi David,
Thanks for the reply. I am going to take a few photos which I hope to post for you to look at to tell me if I have the right locations. Also, can you tell me what type of lubricant is supposed to go in there?
Hi Bob, thanks for the reply. It is a Foton 404 (490BT diesel engine)
The parts manual calls them sebific ducts but they are an “s” shaped
rubber fuel line that ties the injectors together? They are dry rotted
and cracked and fuel is leaking down the side of the engine block.. I'm trying to figure out how to release the pressure so I can change all 3 hoses.
No Bob, I did not. There is very little info in my manual, so I am clueless. I don't know what a priming pump is nor do I have one? All it states is to replace it after so many hours which was what I was doing. I used to have it serviced before the place I bought it stopped selling them and got rid of their mechaniccs. I called shops in my area and NO one wants to work on it, so I have to resort to doing things myself. Not exactly a diesel mechanic so it's all OJT! I just need to get it fixed as soon as possible. Any tips, tricks, suggestions, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for replying!

take a bunch of crap! I may not know anything about a Cat or other heavy equipment mfg's but bought my tractor to use on my 49.5 ac hobby tree farm. A Kubota cost twice as much as my Foton. Nobody wants to service it so I do it myself. I'm a computer engineer by trade but don't have a problem tearing something apart to fix or maintain it. I did a lot of research and found a cross reference chart that crosses a Jinma filter to a Wix filter that I can get from O'Reiley's auto parts for 7.85 and a fuel filter for around 10.00. Maybe other cost-conscious users would be interested?
