I have a Spirit SL-20. The upper cylinders are 21 1/2″ in closed position and the bucket cylinders are 25″. The piston looks like 1 1/4″.
When I head back out there I’ll check it. Sounds like I’m probably ok. I just got concerned when the idiot light started coming on. That’s why I put the manual guage on so I could see what it was doing. Your probably right, I’ll bump the idle up just a hair. I don’t get any chatter like when I first start it up cold so it’s oiling.
I think the oil valve still has tension on the spring, but sure I’ll take the turn count. I have reset the flywheel sensor. I was losing contact on the plugs under the dash. I’m going to be out of town the next few days.
I use 15w40 rotella oil. About 6 months ago the idiot light started coming on at idle so I installed a manual guage so I could see what was going on. I know if I have pressure I have lubrication but I don’t believe it used to be this way. My old Ford carries 45 psi warm or cold. I might step the idle up. The tach hasn’t worked for a while. I used to pull the dash periodically and clean the contacts to keep it working, but haven’t for a while. I set the throttle by sound.
I’ll keep that in mind. I’ve only had to use the primer pump once and it worked fine. What the mechanic told you to use for starting is correct. Thomas at Affordable has always told me to never use ether with those motors. Thanks for the info.
Did you get it, just curious as I have 2006 Foton 404? What they told you is everything I know. If there is something else would like to know for future info.
July 30, 2020 at 9:42 am in reply to: 3 Point float and slop makes for difficult Backhoe work #49434I have a Brands three point hoe. Bob had me send him pics an a couple of measurements and he sent me schematics for a rigid toplink to fit my hoe. I made it to his schematics and works perfectly. There is absolutely no movement. I dug a waterline 5′ deep a third of a mile thru mine reclaim. I dug thru every imaginable. Works great.
My wife has those feellings and she’s usually right. She won’t mow back by the corner of the woods and our farm field because she feels like she’s being watched. I carry a 357 EAA revolver. A revolver never misfires. If you look around you can find the EAA Windicator 357 on sale for around $250. It may be cheap priced for a 357, but it’s actually well made and very accurate if you’ve got a smooth pull and steady hand. I popped a racoon on dead run at 30 yards with it.
We’ve had a couple of cougars frequent our place from time to time. I always have my 357 with me just in case. These have been ambushers not stalkers. I’ve seen claw marks on trees where they climbed up to limbs to pounce on deer. Don’t know how they react when food is scarce, that could really change they’re attitude. They’re big animals, have seen them jump a good 30′ horizotally. They seem to stay away from me so far.
I have a Foton 404. The Fotons work best in all temps with aw32 hydraulic fluid. My steering is two hydraulic cylinders and I use the aw32 in the steering resevoir and the injector pump. I use 80/90 weight gear oil.
